Tsering Gyaltsen
Dharamshala: Tsering Gyaltsen, a 40 year old monk, from Kham Drakgo monastery is reported to have succumbed to injuries inflicted upon him, due to severe beatings by the Chinese police.
Tsering Gyaltsen was arrested on 9 February 2012 for participating in a peaceful protest against the policies of the Chinese government in Kham Drakgo, eastern Tibet. It was reported at that time, that his back was broken due to beatings by the Chinese police. Other than that, his condition and whereabouts were virtually unknown.
Now it is reported that he died on the same day he got arrested in a nearby hospital due to severe injuries. Two other Tibetans, Yeshi Rigsal and Yeshi Samdup, were also shot dead that day by Chinese police for participating in a peaceful protest.
The Chinese officials have only recently accepted that Tsering Gyalstsen has died. His body was not handed over to his families and relatives.
Tsering Gyaltsen was born in Dragko Norpa in Kham. His father’s name is Sangdor and mother’s name is Tsemo.
