Insegnamenti di Sua Santità il Dalai Lama ai giovani tibetani – 2° giorno
Sua Santità il Dalai Lama: “Come ho detto, rifletto quotidianamente sulla bodhicitta. Questa è la migliore medicina per tutti i mali. Amici miei del Dharma, tenete la bodhicitta nei vostri cuori”.
4 giugno 2024. Thekchen Chöling, Dharamsala, HP, India – Dopo l’arrivo questa mattina di Sua Santità il Dalai Lama al Tsuglagkhang, la seconda sessione di insegnamenti per i giovani tibetani si è aperta con la recitazione di un verso di lode a Sua Santità e d a i suoi successi.
Successivamente, i membri del corso di introduzione al Buddhismo, donne e uomini adulti, si sono impegnati in un’energica dimostrazione delle loro capacità di dibattito. Hanno discusso punti della grammatica tibetana, come esposto nel trattato di Thönmi Sambhota noto come “Sum-chu-pa”.
Sua Santità si è quindi rivolto all’assemblea:
“Oggi, sebbene siamo in esilio, giovani o vecchi, ci interessiamo all’istruzione. Gli studenti maturi che hanno appena dibattuto davanti a noi hanno dimostrato il loro entusiasmo per l’istruzione. Nei centri di apprendimento monastici come Sera, Ganden e Drepung, i monaci hanno studiato a lungo e si sono impegnati nel dibattito sul modello di Nalanda. Ora anche i laici si stanno interessando a questo approccio. Tutto questo contribuisce a mantenere vive le nostre tradizioni. Gli studenti stanno anche imparando a dibattere a scuola. Sembra che siamo tutti coinvolti.
“Ci sono sempre più cinesi interessati a saperne di più sul buddismo tibetano. Dovremmo pensare a come possiamo aiutarli. Un punto chiave da notare è che la nostra tradizione non riguarda solo preghiere e rituali, ma implica anche un rigoros o studio e dibattito. Condividere queste competenze è il modo in cui possiamo aiutare i cinesi interessati a sostenere il Buddhadharma nello studio e nella pratica.
“Ci sono anche persone in altre parti del mondo in cui il buddismo era precedentemente poco conosciuto ma che ora si stanno interessando a ciò che le nostre tradizioni hanno da dire sul funzionamento della mente e delle emozioni, e così via. Credo che abbiamo la responsabilità di contribuire al bene ssere del mondo condividendo ciò che sappiamo. Apprezzo l’esempio di dibattito che abbiamo visto oggi.

His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s Teachings for Young Tibetans – 2nd day
His Holiness the Dalai Lama: “As I’ve said, I reflect on bodhichitta daily. This is the best medicine for all ailments. My Dharma friends, keep bodhicitta in your hearts.”
June 4, 2024. Thekchen Chöling, Dharamsala, HP, India – After His Holiness the Dalai Lama arrived in the Tsuglagkhang this morning, the second session of teachings for young Tibetans opened with the recitation of a verse of admiration for His Holiness and his accomplishments.
Next, members of the Introduction to Buddhism Course, adult women and men, engaged in an energetic demonstration of their debating skills. They discussed points of Tibetan grammar, as laid out in Thönmi Sambhota’s treatise known as ‘Sum-chu-pa’.
His Holiness then addressed the gathering:
“Today, although we are in exile, whether young or old, we take an interest in education. The mature students who have just debated before us have demonstrated their enthusiasm for education. In the monastic centres of learning such as Sera, Ganden and Drepung, monks have long studied and engaged in debate on the Nalanda model. Now laypeople are taking an interest in this approach as well. This all contributes to keeping our traditions alive. Students are also learning to debate at school. It seems we’re all involved.
“There are growing numbers of Chinese who are interested in learning more about Tibetan Buddhism. We should think about how we can help them. A key point to note is that our tradition is not only about prayers and rituals, it involves rigorous study and debate. Sharing these skills is how we can help interested Chinese uphold the Buddhadharma in study and practice.
“There are also people in other parts of the world where Buddhism was previously little known who are now taking an interest in what our traditions have to say about the workings of the mind and emotions, and so forth. Sua Santità il Dalai Lama: “Le cose esistono per mera apparenza, ma quando vengono esaminate con un’analisi critica crollano e si scopre che in realtà non esistono come appaiono.”
3 giugno 2024. Thekchen Chöling, Dharamsala, HP, India – Mentre Sua Santità il Dalai Lama attraversava il cortile per raggiungere il Tsuglagkhang, il tempio principale tibetano, questa mattina, dei ballerini in costume volteggiavano in segno di benvenuto. Ai piedi del tempio due studenti si sono fatti avanti per offrire il tradizionale “Chema Changphu”. Sua Santità ne ha preso un pizzico e ha immerso il dito nell’altro. Ha osservato la folla, molti dei quali, sorridendo e salutando, offrivano delle sciarpe di seta bianca in segno di benvenuto,.
Una folla di circa 5500 persone si era radunata nel tempio e nel cortile. Tra loro v ‘erano 1800 stranieri provenienti da 57 paesi. Tuttavia, l’attenzione principale degli insegnamenti odierni era per i giovani tibetani. C’erano 900 studenti del TCV dalla nona classe in su, 161 studenti universitari, 40 giovani tibetani locali e 80 membri della classe di introduzione al buddismo. Una volta che Sua Santità si è seduto sul trono, i bambini della Gopalpur TCV School hanno recitato a memoria “Uno specchio limpido: il compendio della consapevolezza”, un testo fondamentale. Si apre con un verso di omaggio a Manjushri, quindi procede a spiegare i modi della conoscenza. Quindi, i bambini hanno recitato la preghiera in un singolo verso per la lunga vita di Sua Santità seguita dalla lode a Manjushri che inizia:
Omaggio al mio Guru e Protettore, Manjushri,
Che tiene nel suo cuore un testo scritturale simbolico della sua visione di tutte le cose così come sono,
La cui intelligenza risplende come il sole, non offuscata da illusioni o tracce di ignoranza
Che insegna in sessanta modi, con l’amorevole compassione di un padre per il suo unico figlio, tutte le creature intrappolate nella prigione dell’esistenza ciclica, confuse nell’oscurità della loro ignoranza, sopraffatte dalla loro sofferenza. His Holiness the Dalai Lama: Things exist by way of mere appearance, but when examined under critical analysis they fall apart and are found not actually to exist the way they appear.
June 3, 2024. Thekchen Chöling, Dharamsala, HP, India – As His Holiness the Dalai Lama drove through the courtyard to the Tsuglagkhang, the Main Tibetan Temple, this morning, costumed dancers whirled in welcome. At the foot of the temple two students stepped forward to offer the traditional ‘Chema Changphu’. His Holiness took a pinch of one and dipped his finger in the other. He surveyed the crowd, many of whom held up white silk scarves by way of welcome, smiled and waved.
A crowd of about 5500 had gathered in the temple and the courtyard. They included 1800 foreigners from 57 countries. However, the main focus of today’s teachings were young Tibetans. There were 900 TCV students from class nine and above, 161 college students, 40 young local Tibetans and 80 members of the Introduction to Buddhism Class.
Once His Holiness had taken his seat on the throne, children from Gopalpur TCV School recited ‘A Clear Mirror: The Compendium of Awareness’, a fundamental text, from memory. It opens with a verse of homage to Manjushri, then proceeds to explain the ways of knowing. Next, the children recited the single verse prayer for His Holiness’s long life followed by the Praise to Manjushri that begins:
