Sua Santità il Dalai Lama: “il Buddhadharma non consiste nell’eseguire rituali o suonare strumenti musicali, ma nel raggiungere la pace della mente.

Thekchen Chöling, Dharamsala, HP, India – Amici sorridenti e sostenitori affollavano la strada mentre Sua Santità il Dalai Lama questa mattina partiva per Tashi Jong mentre il sole del primo mattino splendeva in un cielo senza nuvole. L’intero monastero di Gyutö si è schierato lungo la strada per salutarlo al suo passaggio. Allo stesso modo, a Gopalpur, sulla strada per Palampur, un gruppo di ballerini in maschera di Tashi Shölpa guidava una lunga fila di studenti, insegnanti e personale della vicina scuola del Tibetan Children’s Village (TCV). Molti di loro salutavano Sua Santità con sciarpe di seta bianca. Tutti sembravano felicissimi di vedere Sua Santità.

Arrivando a Tashi Jong, l’intera comunità lo stava aspettando per dargli il benvenuto nei suoi abiti migliori, con un sorriso gioioso sul volto,. Sua Santità ha varcato la soglia della nuova sala riunioni tagliando il nastro d’inaugurazione dell’edificio accademico principale del nuovo Khamgar Druk Dharmakara College. In fondo alla sala accese una lampada inaugurale davanti ad una grande statua del Buddha.

Sua Santità è quindi salito sul trono e prese posto. Mentre Khamtrul Rinpoché offriva un mandala, Sua Santità ha indossato il cappello rosso Drukpa Kagyyu. Sono state offerte rappresentazioni del corpo, della parola e della mente del Buddha, mentre veniva recitata una preghiera per la lunga vita di Sua Santità composta dai suoi tutori. Furono serviti tè e riso dolce.

Uno dei Khenpo ha accolto Sua Santità, riferendosi a lui con rispetto come l’incarnazione di Avalokiteshvara e maestro dell’intero insegnamento del Buddha. Ha salutato tutti gli ospiti e i dignitari con “Tashi Deleg”.

Nella sua relazione, tenuta in tibetano, Khamtrul Rinpoché si è nuovamente rivolto a Sua Santità come maestro dell’intero insegnamento del Buddha e paladino della pace in tutto il mondo. Lo ha ringraziato per aver accettato l’invito d’inaugurazione di questo nuovo centro di apprendimento.

Rinpoché ha spiegato che il primo monastero Khamapagar fu fondato dal primo Khamtrul Rinpoché, incoraggiato dal grande Quinto Dalai Lama, con filiali a Dergé ed in altre parti del Kham in Tibet.. I successivi Dalai Lama, incluso il Settimo, scrissero ai Khamtrul Rinpoché per riconoscere il loro lavoro di tutela del Dharma. September 27, 2023. Thekchen Chöling, Dharamsala, HP, India – Smiling friends and well-wishers thronged the street as His Holiness the Dalai Lama set off for Tashi Jong this morning while the early morning sun shone out of a cloudless sky. The entire Gyutö Monastery turned out to line the road to greet him as he passed. Likewise, at Gopalpur, on the way to Palampur, a group of masked Tashi Shölpa dancers headed a long line of students, teachers and staff from the nearby Tibetan Children’s Village (TCV) school. Many of them held white silk scarves in their hands. All of them looked delighted to see His Holiness.

Arriving at Tashi Jong, the entire community were waiting in their best clothes, joyful smiles on their faces, to welcome him. His Holiness was able to drive right to the steps of the new assembly hall. At the door he cut the ribbon to symbolically open the main academic building of the new Khamgar Druk Dharmakara College. At the head of the hall he lit an inaugural lamp before a large statue of the Buddha.

His Holiness ascended the throne and took his seat. As Khamtrul Rinpoché offered a mandala, His Holiness wore the red Drukpa Kagyyu hat. There were offerings of representations of the body, speech and mind of the Buddha while a prayer for His Holiness’s long life composed by his tutors was chanted. Tea and sweet rice were served.

One of the Khenpos welcomed His Holiness, referring to him respectfully as the incarnation of Avalokiteshvara and master of the entire teaching of the Buddha. He greeted all the guests and dignitaries with “Tashi Deleg.” Read the rest of this entry »

Sua Santità il Dalai Lama: “Essere gentili con gli altri è una vera fonte di felicità. La pace nel mondo non si realizzerà grazie a risoluzioni e dichiarazioni ufficiali, ma perché le persone sviluppano un buon cuore.”

6 settembre 2023. Thekchen Chöling, Dharamsala, HP, India – Questa mattina il cielo era luminoso mentre Sua Santità il Dalai Lama s’incamminava dalla sua residenza al Tsuglagkhang. Il cortile risuonava del suono dei mantra: Om ara patsa na dhi e Mig-tse-ma. Una volta che Sua Santità ha raggiunto il tempio, i monaci Theravada hanno cantato il Mangala Sutta in pali, dopodiché i monaci vietnamiti hanno cantato il “Sutra del Cuore” nella loro lingua. I rappresentanti dei vari gruppi buddisti presenti hanno offerto un mandala e rappresentazioni del corpo, della parola e della mente del Buddha. Il “Sutra del cuore” è stato cantato ancora una volta in tibetano mentre tè e pane venivano distribuiti ai presenti.

Per cominciare, Sua Santità ha riferito di un’occasione durante un incontro pan-buddista a Varanasi in cui ebbe una visione chiara del Buddha. Avvertì che il Buddha riconosceva che avesse studiato i suoi insegnamenti e coltivato nella pratica la mente del risveglio di bodhicitta e la visione della vacuità,

“Sebbene siano trascorsi quasi 2600 anni da quando il Buddha era in vita, i suoi insegnamenti continuano a fiorire, perché ci sono persone che li studiano, li praticano e li condividono con gli altri.

“Ciò che è importante in termini di preservazione dell’etica e di pratica dell’insegnamento è che l’insegnamento fiorisca dentro di noi. Sono nato vicino al confine del Tibet ed ho praticato il Dharma fin da quando ero bambino. Ho studiato le opere delle Tre Collezioni (Tripitaka: Vinaya, Sutra, Abhidharma) ed ho applicato il triplice approccio di studio, riflessione e meditazione. Praticare gli insegnamenti implica coltivare la mente interiore.

September 6, 2023. Thekchen Chöling, Dharamsala, HP, India – This morning the weather was brighter as His Holiness the Dalai Lama walked from his residence to the Tsuglagkhang. The courtyard was filled with the sound of mantras, Om ara patsa na dhi and Mig-tse-ma. Once His Holiness reached the temple, Theravadin monks chanted the Mangala Sutta in Pali, following which Vietnamese monks chanted the ‘Heart Sutra’ in their own language. Representatives of the various Buddhist groups in attendance offered a mandala and representations of the body, speech and mind of the Buddha. The ‘Heart Sutra’ was chanted once more in Tibetan while tea and bread were distributed to the congregation.

To begin with His Holiness reported an occasion during a pan-Buddhist gathering in Varanasi when he had a clear vision of the Buddha. He felt the Buddha recognised how he had studied his teachings and cultivated the awakening mind of bodhichitta and the view of emptiness in practice,

“Although almost 2600 years have passed since the Buddha was alive, his teachings continue to flourish because there are people who study, practise and share them with others.

“What’s important in terms of preserving ethics and practising the teaching is for the teaching to flourish within us. I was born near the border of Tibet and I’ve pursued the Dharma since I was a child. I’ve studied works from the Three Collections and applied the threefold approach of study, reflection and meditation. Practising the teachings entails cultivating the mind within.

Sua Santità il Dalai Lama: “Quando sviluppi davvero la compassione, senti che la sofferenza degli altri è insopportabile. Ecco perché generi il desiderio di conseguire l’illuminazione. Inoltre, la fonte della sofferenza, l’ignoranza, viene sradicata realizzando la vacuità”.

05 settembre 2023. Thekchen Chöling, Dharamsala, HP, India – Stamattina, Sua Santità il Dalai Lama ha raggiunto lo Tsuglagkhang, il tempio principale tibetano, sorridendo e salutando la folla, fermandosi di tanto in tanto per salutare le 5.000 persone circa presenti che cantavano le strofe “mig-tee-ma” in lode di Jé Tsongkhapa. Il terreno era bagnato ed il cielo era pieno di nuvole a causa delle continue piogge monsoniche.

Non appena Sua Santità si è assiso, un gruppo di monaci Theravada ha cantato il Mangala Sutta in pali, seguito dal “Sutra del cuore” in cinese. Rappresentanti di vari gruppi buddisti, monaci, laici, donne e uomini, hanno offerto un mandala e rappresentazioni del corpo, della parola e della mente del Buddha.

Sua Santità si è quindi rivolto ai presenti:

“Qui, oggi, ci sono seguaci di varie tradizioni. Tutti noi rispettiamo il Buddha, che raggiunse l’illuminazione avendo raccolto meriti e saggezza incommensurabili. Il suo insegnamento, in particolare, soddisfa i bisogni e i desideri dei tre tipi di esseri. In sostanza, ha insegnato come possiamo diventare tutti delle persone di buon cuore. Dovremmo indagare le cause attraverso le quali il Buddha raggiunse l’illuminazione. Anche noi abbiamo la natura di Buddha, ma è oscurata da contaminazioni come l’idea sbagliata che le persone ed i fenomeni esistano indipendentemente.

“Come monaco e seguace del Buddha, è mia pratica quotidiana riflettere sulla mente del risveglio di bodhicitta e sulla visione della vacuità. Ricordo che le cose non sono come appaiono. Esistono solo a livello nominale. Non solo dobbiamo contrastare la nostra inclinazione ad afferrare l’esistenza di un sé indipendente, dobbiamo anche resistere ai nostri atteggiamenti egoistici.

L’“Offerta al Maestro Spirituale” (Lama Chöpa) dice:

Poiché l’egocentrismo è la porta d’accesso ad ogni tormento,

Anche se prendermi cura di mia madre è il fondamento di tutto ciò che è benefico,

Ispirami a rendere il fulcro della mia pratica

September 5, 2023. Thekchen Chöling, Dharamsala, HP, India – As His Holiness the Dalai Lama walked to the Tsuglagkhang, the Main Tibetan Temple, this morning, he smiled and waved to the crowd, occasionally stopping to greet individuals. The ground was wet and the sky was full of clouds due to the continuing monsoon rains. The 5000-strong congregation chanted the ‘mig-tee-ma’ verse in praise of Jé Tsongkhapa.

Once His Holiness had taken his seat, a group of Theravadin monks chanted the Mangala Sutta in Pali, the ‘Heart Sutra’ was then chanted in Chinese. Representatives of various Buddhist groups, monastics, lay-people, women and men, offered a mandala and representations of the body, speech and mind of the Buddha.

His Holiness addressed the gathering:

“Here, today, are followers of various traditions. We all pay respect to the Buddha, who attained enlightenment having collected immeasurable merit and wisdom. His speech, in particular, fulfils the needs and wishes of the three kinds of beings. Essentially, he taught how we can all become good-hearted. We should investigate the causes through which the Buddha became enlightened.
