Sua Santità il Dalai Lama: Tutti gli esseri umani sono uguali e non c’è bisogno di considerare alcuni come superiori ed altri come inferiori.

Shewatsel, Leh, Ladakh, India – Oggi, Sua Santità il Dalai Lama è stato invitato a pranzo dalla Ladakh Buddhism Association (LBA) e dall a A ll-Ladakh Gonpa Association (LGA) nel giardino di Abispang del monastero di Spituk, salutato l ungo il percorso per l’evento d a migliaia d i fedeli, che gli offrivano fiori, nei loro abiti di cerimonia .
L’ex deputato ed attuale presidente della LBA, Thupstan Tsewang, ha accolto brevemente Sua Santità e lo ha ringraziato per aver visitato ancora una volta il Ladakh, per aver dato insegnamenti e per aver dato udienza a così tante persone del Ladakh.
Rivolgendosi al pubblico come: “Miei cari fratelli e sorelle del Dharma”, Sua Santità ha confidato d’essere felice di venire in Ladakh per diverse settimane per evitare l’umidità della stagione delle piogge nelle regioni più basse dell’India che includono Dharamshala, la sua residenza di lungo periodo nell’Himachal Pradesh.
“La gente del Ladakh mi ha mostrato grande devozione ed ha chiaramente una fede sincera nell’insegnamento del Buddha. Mi ha fatto piacere anche vedere l’amicizia ed il cameratismo che esiste qui tra musulmani, buddisti e persone di altre fedi.
“Dopo che il Tibet ha perso la sua libertà, sono andato in esilio e da allora ho constatato l’immutabile fede e dedizione della popolazione della regione himalayana: dal Ladakh all’Arunachal Pradesh. Anche in questa occasione ho potuto venire in Ladakh e dare alcuni insegnamenti. Vorrei ringraziare tutti i presenti, laici, monaci, i nostri amici musulmani ed altri per la loro amicizia e buon cuore. Farewell Lunch at Abispang Spituk

August 23, 2023. Shewatsel, Leh, Ladakh, India – Today, His Holiness the Dalai Lama was invited to lunch in the Abispang garden of Spituk monastery by the Ladakh Buddhist Association (LBA) and the All-Ladakh Gonpa Association (LGA). The road along which he drove was lined by the faithful in their best clothes with flowers in their hands.
Former MP and current President of the LBA, Thupstan Tsewang, briefly welcomed His Holiness and thanked him for having visited Ladakh once again, for giving teachings, and for having given audience to so many of the people of Ladakh.
Addressing members of the audience as, “My dear dharma brothers and sisters”, His Holiness told them that he was pleased to come to Ladakh for several weeks to avoid the humidity of the rainy season in the lower regions of India that include Dharamshala, his long-term residence in Himachal Pradesh.
“The people of Ladakh have shown me great devotion and clearly have sincere faith in the teaching of the Buddha. I’ve been pleased also to see the friendship and camaraderie that exists here between Muslims, Buddhists and people of other faiths.
“After Tibet lost its freedom, I came into exile, and since then I have observed the unchanging faith and dedication of the people of the Himalayan region from Ladakh to Arunachal Pradesh. On this occasion too, I was able to come to Ladakh and give some teachings. I would like to thank everyone here, lay people, monastics, our Muslim friends and others for their friendship and warm-heartedness. Sua Santità il Dalai Lama: “Se pensi alla mente del risveglio di bodhicitta, svilupperai un senso di cura e compassione per tutti gli esseri viventi. Tutti loro, in un momento o nell’altro, hanno fatto parte della nostra vita e sono anche in relazione l’uno con l’altro, nello stesso modo in cui cercano la felicità e non desiderano soffrire. Se coltivi per loro la compassione, anche tu ne trarrai beneficio.
19 agosto 2023. Khaltse, Ladakh, India – Non appena Sua Santità il Dalai Lama si è assiso sul palco questa mattina presto, ha salutato le oltre 25.000 persone riunite sul teatro d ‘ insegnamento per manifestargli profondo affetto e fede.
“Pochi minuti fa”, ha esordi to loro, “ho incontrato una donna di 106 anni e la considero di buon auspicio per vivere a lungo. Poiché il numero di persone che mi mostrano fiducia e devozione continua a crescere, ciò aiuta certamente il Guru a vivere a lungo. Grazie. Questo mi dà il coraggio di vivere fino a più di 110 anni”, al che i presenti ha nno applaudito con gioia.
“Certo, non c’è molto d a essere orgogliosi se hai vissuto una lunga vita dedicata esclusivamente al raggiungimento dei tuoi obiettivi personali a spese degli altri. Ma, vivere una vita lunga e significativa al servizio degli altri, porterà sicuramente frutti benefici.

His Holiness the Dalai Lama: Long-Life Empowerment at Khaltse, Ladakh
His Holiness the Dalai Lama: “Conflict and violence in the world arise due chiefly to self-cherishing attitudes that lead us to pursue self-fish aims and disregard the well-being of others, which ultimately brings suffering back to us”.
August 19, 2023. Khaltse, Ladakh, India – As soon as His Holiness the Dalai Lama took his seat on the stage early this morning, he acknowledged that the more than 25,000 people assembled on the teaching ground had come to see him out of deep affection and faith.
“Just a few minutes ago,” he told them, “I met a woman who is 106 years old, and like her I consider it to be auspicious to live long. As the number of people who show me trust and devotion continues to grow, it certainly helps the Guru to live long. Thank you.This gives me the courage to live to be more than 110 years old.” The congregation applauded with delight.
“Of course, there is not much to be proud of if you’ve lived a long life dedicated solely to fulfilling your own personal goals at the expense of others. But to live a long and meaningful life in the service of others will definitely bear beneficial fruit.
“By cultivating the awakening mind of bodhichitta, you earn merit. And by understanding emptiness, you accumulate wisdom. It is very important to train yourself to listen, to reflect on what you have heard or read and to then put them into practice.
“If you think about the awakening mind of bodhicitta, you will develop a sense of caring and compassion for all living beings, including gods and spirits. All of them have, at one time or another, been part of our lives, and related to one another too. Like us they seek happiness and do not wish to suffer. Sua Santità il Dalai Lama a Khaltse in Ladakh
Sua Santità il Dalai Lama: “La felicità non consiste nell’essere ricchi o famosi, ma nel godersi la pace della mente. Questo è ciò che ci dà vera soddisfazione.”
18 agosto 2023. Khaltse, Ladakh, India – Questa mattina Sua Santità il Dalai Lama è volato da Leh a Khaltse nella Sham Valley a ovest di Leh. Dopo un volo di meno di mezz’ora è atterrato all’eliporto adiacente al campo degli insegnamenti di Khaltse, ricevendo un caloroso benvenuto dalla comunità locale rappresentata dal Chief Executive Councillor (CEC) del Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC), Tashi Gyalson, rappresentanti di varie organizzazioni e comunità religiose della regione di Sham.
Sulla strada per il luogo d’insegnamento, Sua Santità ha inaugurato i siti previsti per un collegio di laurea ed una nuova residenza (Phodrang) per lui e la sua famiglia.
Il presidente di Khaltse dell’amministrazione Sham, Tsewang Norbu, Jamyang T. Namgyal, deputato e Tashi Gyalson, LAHDC CEC, hanno tenuto discorsi di benvenuto a Sua Santità. Tsewang Norbu ha dichiarato che la gente della regione di Sham si sente fortunata e benedetta nell’esaudire il desiderio di offrire a Sua Santità un’accoglienza adeguata e di riceverne insegnamenti.
La comunità locale e gli studenti della regione hanno offerto spettacoli culturali per celebrare l’occasione.
A Sua Santità è stato quindi invitato a parlare ai circa 15.000 presenti.
“Oggi” ha esordito “sono molto lieto di incontrare la gente di questa regione, che mi dimostra tanto affetto, indipendentemente dal fatto che sia religiosa o meno.
“In tutto il mondo ho visitato molti luoghi diversi e sono giunto alla conclusione che siamo tutti uguali come esseri umani. Tutti noi nutriamo amore ed affetto, quindi è estremamente importante promuovere ed adottare queste qualità tra di noi. Dal momento in cui siamo nati siamo stati tutti nutriti e tutelati dell’amore e dell’affetto di nostra madre.
“È meraviglioso che in questi giorni ci sia un senso crescente della necessità di promuovere queste qualità sincere. Sebbene ci siano stati enormi progressi nello sviluppo materiale, pensare agli altri in termini di ‘noi’ e ‘loro’ ha portato ad una diffusa invidia e sospetto. Un modo per contrastare questi sentimenti negativi è coltivare un apprezzamento per l’unità dell’umanità.
“Vorrei riconoscere la vostra devozione e la fede incrollabile in me e assicurarvi che domani mattina vi offrirò un iniziazione di lunga vita legato a Tara Bianca.
“Lo scopo della pratica religiosa è domare la mente e, eliminando i tre veleni dell’avidità, dell’invidia e dell’ignoranza, sviluppare un buon cuore. Da parte mia, ogni mattina quando apro gli occhi, m’impegno a coltivare il risveglio della mente di bodhicitta, il che mi porta tranquillità e buona salute. Può essere parte della pratica religiosa pregare ed eseguire rituali, ma la cosa più importante è diventare una persona pacifica. Le preghiere che faccio per beneficiare gli altri contribuiscono allo sviluppo della mia pace mentale. Dobbiamo cogliere l’opportunità di essere amichevoli, non ostili, gli uni con gli altri.
“La felicità non consiste nell’essere ricchi o famosi, ma nel godersi la pace della mente. Questo è ciò che ci dà vera soddisfazione. Pertanto, è essenziale fondare la nostra vita sulla pratica dell’amore e della compassione. In definitiva, quando arriva il momento di esalare il nostro ultimo respiro, saremo circondati da familiari ed amici, che risponderanno con amorevole gentilezza simile all’amore e all’affetto che nostra madre ci ha mostrato quando siamo nati”.
Sua Santità ha sottolineato che, che si creda o meno nella religione, è importante coltivare il buon cuore e vivere una vita significativa. Questo è il modo per essere felici e vivere in pace.
His Holiness the Dalai Lama Visits Khaltse

August 18, 2023. Khaltse, Ladakh, India – This morning, His Holiness the Dalai Lama flew from Leh to Khaltse in the Sham Valley west of Leh. He landed at the helipad near the teaching ground in Khaltse after a flight of less than half an hour. He was accorded a warm welcome by the local community led by the Chief Executive Councillor (CEC) of the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC), Tashi Gyalson, representatives of various organisations and religious communities of Sham region.
On his way to the teaching ground, His Holiness inaugurated the sites of a proposed degree college and a new residence (Phodrang) for him and his household.
President of the Khaltse, Sham administration, Tsewang Norbu, Jamyang T. Namgyal, MP and Tashi Gyalson, the LAHDC CEC made speeches to welcome His Holiness. Tsewang Norbu declared that the people of the Sham Region felt both fortunate and blessed to be able to fulfil their wish to offer His Holiness a proper welcome and to receive teachings from him.

Sua Santità il Dalai Lama a Sindhu Ghat in Ladakh
Sua Santità il Dalai Lama: “Come monaco buddista, rispetto tutte le tradizioni religiose del mondo. E, ogni volta che posso, visito gli altri luoghi di culto. Sebbene possano differire in termini di filosofia, ciò che le varie tradizioni religiose hanno in comune è che tutte promuovono l’amicizia ed il buon cuore.”
16 agosto 2023. Shewatsel, Leh, Ladakh, India – Questa mattina Sua Santità ha partecipato a un pranzo di commiato al Sindhu Ghat, sulle rive del fiume Indo, vicino a Shey, offerto dal Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC). Tra i presenti c’erano i Consiglieri eletti guidati dal Consigliere Capo dell’Esecutivo (CEC), Tashi Gyalson, funzionari del Territorio dell’Unione, oltre a rappresentanti di varie organizzazioni e comunità religiose del Ladakh.
Jamyang T. Namgyal, MP e Tashi Gyalson, CEC, sono stati tra coloro che hanno accolto Sua Santità alla funzione. A nome del popolo del Ladakh, hanno espresso sincera gratitudine a Sua Santità per lo straordinario modo in cui i suoi insegnamenti e consigli hanno arricchito la vita del popolo del Ladakh e per averli incoraggiati, n el corso degli anni, a coltivare un buon cuore e a d i mpegnarsi per il benessere dei loro simili. Hanno quindi chiesto a Sua Santità di continuare a visitare il Ladakh e di rimanere più a lungo.
Il consigliere capo dell’esecutivo, Tashi Gyalson, ha presentato una breve relazione sullo sviluppo del Ladakh negli ultimi tempi, compren dente l’introduzione di servizi di base, come l’ elettricità, strade migliori e d altre infrastrutture, nelle regioni remote. È stato anche felice di annunciare che anche i rifugiati tibetani in Ladakh stanno beneficiando dei programmi di welfare introdotti dal la Union Territory del Ladakh.
A l che hanno fatto seguito tre spettacoli di canti e balli, due di danze culturali tradizionali, mentre la terza era una canzone scritta da uno studioso del Ladakh che esaltava le qualità di Sua Santità il Dalai Lama.

August 16, 2023. Shewatsel, Leh, Ladakh, India – This morning His Holiness attended a farewell lunch at the Sindhu Ghat, on the banks of the Indus River, near Shey. It was offered by the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC). Among those present were the elected Councillors headed by the Chief Executive Councillor (CEC), Tashi Gyalson, Union Territory officials, as well as representatives of various organisations and religious communities of Ladakh.
Jamyang T. Namgyal, MP and Tashi Gyalson, the CEC, were among those who welcomed His Holiness to the function. On behalf of the people of Ladakh, they expressed wholehearted gratitude to His Holiness for the extraordinary way his teachings and advice have enriched the lives of the people of Ladakh. Over the years, he has encouraged them to cultivate a warm heart and work for the welfare of their fellow human beings. They requested His Holiness to continue to visit Ladakh and to stay longer.
Chief Executive Councillor, Tashi Gyalson presented a brief report on the development of Ladakh in recent times, which has included bringing basic facilities, such as electricity, better roads and other infrastructure, to remote regions. He was also happy to announce that Tibetan refugees in Ladakh are also benefitting from the welfare schemes introduced by the Union Territory of Ladakh.
There were three song and dance performances. Two of them were traditional cultural dances, while the third was a song written by a Ladakhi scholar extolling the qualities of His Holiness the Dalai Lama. Read the rest of this entry »

12 agosto 2023. Shewatsel, Leh, Ladakh, India. Questa mattina Sua Santità il Dalai Lama ha attraversato l’Indo per visitare l’Imam Bargah, una moschea nella vicina Chuchot Yokma. È stato ricevuto all’arrivo da rappresentanti delle comunità sciite e sunnite. La moderatrice dell’evento, una giovane donna, ha dato il benvenuto a Sua Santità ed agli altri ospiti.
Lo sceicco Nazir Ahmed Sharifi, vicepresidente dell’Anjuman-e-Imamia, ha cantato una commovente preghiera per aprire formalmente i lavori. Il rappresentante sciita, Ashraf Ali Barch e d il presidente Anjuman Imamia h a nno espresso grande ammirazione e affetto per Sua Santità come uomo di pace, come la persona che dichiara costantemente che siamo tutti uguali come esseri umani e c he che fa grandi sforzi per promuovere l’armonia interreligiosa.
Il rappresentante sunnita, il dott. Abdul Quayoum, presidente dell’Anjuman Moin-ul-Islam (AMI), è così intervenuto in inglese:
“Ancora una volta Sua Santità il Dalai Lama è qui con noi in questa moschea ed è il mese sacro di Muharram. Sua Santità è rinomato per i suoi insegnamenti sulla pace, l’armonia, la fratellanza e la rettitudine. Ama venire in Ladakh e noi amiamo ascoltarlo. Ti siamo grati per aver mantenuto il Ladakh nel tuo cuore, per favore non dimenticarci”.
Il dottor Abdul Quayoum ha affermato che è in preparazione una traduzione del Sacro Corano in tibetano ed ha letto ad alta voce una prefazione fornita da Sua Santità.
“Mi congratulo con la comunità musulmana del Ladakh per aver tradotto il Sacro Corano in tibetano. Come dico spesso, tutte le principali religioni del mondo trasmettono lo stesso messaggio di amore, compassione e servizio altruistico verso gli altri esseri viventi. Per migliaia di anni le nostre varie religioni hanno portato immensi benefici a d innumerevoli esseri umani. Non ho dubbi che sarebbe utile che le vostre sacre scritture siano tradotte nelle diverse lingue del mondo”.
“Chiunque io incontri”, Sua Santità ha incalza to, “penso che siamo tutti uguali come esseri umani. Tutti gli otto miliardi di persone in vita oggi, non ap pena son o nati, sono stati protetti dall’amore e dall’affetto della propria madre. È così che iniziano le cose. Pertanto, in seguito, quando saremo cresciuti e nel bel mezzo della nostra vita, dovremmo fare il possibile per prenderci cura degli altri. His Holiness the Dalai Lama Visit the Ladakhi Muslim Community

August 12, 2023. Shewatsel, Leh, Ladakh, India – This morning His Holiness the Dalai Lama took a short drive across the Indus to visit the Imam Bargah, a mosque in nearby Chuchot Yokma. He was received on arrival by representatives of both Shia and Sunni communities, who escorted him to his seat. The moderator of the event, a young woman, welcomed His Holiness and other guests.
Sheikh Nazir Ahmed Sharifi, Vice President of the Anjuman-e- Imamia chanted a moving prayer to formally open proceedings. Shia Representative, Ashraf Ali Barch, President Anjuman Imamia, addressed the gathering in Ladakhi. He expressed great admiration and affection for His Holiness as a man of peace, as someone who consistently declares that we are all the same as human beings, and as someone who makes great effort to promote inter-religious harmony.
Sunni Representative, Dr Abdul Quayoum, President of the Anjuman Moin-ul-Islam (AMI), addressed the gathering in English.
“Once again His Holiness the Dalai Lama is here with us in this mosque and it is the holy month of Muharram. His Holiness is renowned for his teachings about peace, harmony, brotherhood and righteousness. He loves to come to Ladakh and we love to listen to him. We are thankful to you for keeping Ladakh in your heart, please don’t forget us.”

Sua Santità il Dalai Lama incontra una delegazione del SEE Learning
Sua Santità il Dalai Lama: “Non abbiamo bisogno di concentrarci su ciò che potrebbe dividerci. Ciò di cui abbiamo bisogno invece è un senso di unità dell’umanità, una consapevolezza di come siamo tutti uguali. Dobbiamo impegnarci a costruire l’armonia in tutto il mondo.
10 agosto 2023. Shewatsel, Leh, Ladakh, India – Sua Santità il Dalai Lama ha incontrato questa mattina 30 dirigenti del team SEE Learning in Ladakh, che g li hanno comunica to che, dal lancio del programma in Ladakh poco più di un anno fa, hanno formato 500 insegnanti per implementare la formazione sociale, emotiva ed etica nelle scuole locali. Ieri, 150 insegnanti di Leh e Kargil si sono incontrati per discutere la loro esperienza di lavoro ne l programma. Il loro portavoce ha ringraziato Sua Santità per aver avuto la visione di incoraggiare lo sviluppo del SEE Learning.
“Sono felice di conoscervi”, ha detto loro Sua Santità. “Quando noi tibetani ci siamo rifugi ati in esilio in India, abbiamo scoperto la democrazia operante e che ci sono persone su cui la religione ha poca attrazione. Certo, la pratica religiosa può essere molto utile, ma è anche vero che le persone usano la religione come scusa per alimentare i conflitti.
“Nella mia vita ho ricevuto insegnamenti appartenenti alle tradizioni Sakya, Kagyu e Nyingma, così come alla tradizione Geluk, e li pratico tutti. Ma la religione non è per tutti, e , ciò che è importante, è trovare modi per incoraggiare le persone a sviluppare, su base laica, qualità positive come l’amore e la compassione.
“Sin dalla nostra nascita siamo nutriti dall’affetto di nostra madre. Formiamo con lei un legame naturale che non ha nulla a che fare con la religione. In un certo senso questa esperienza di amore e d affetto è colorata dall’attaccamento, ma in altri è semplicemente una risposta naturale.
“Nonostante l’enorme numero di persone che sono morte violentemente durante la prima e la seconda guerra mondiale, oggi ci sono persone che sembrano essere spinte dal bisogno di combattere, anche se questo provoc herebbe una terza guerra mondiale. Persistono nello sviluppo di armi potenti, ignari del fatto che se usano armi nucleari, anche loro saranno distrutti. Se non ci sforziamo di costruire la pace, l’intera umanità ne soffrirà.
“Indipendentemente dal fatto che le persone seguano o meno una pratica religiosa, tutti abbiamo bisogno di amore e compassione. La moralità di base deriva da questo. In effetti, le guerre si combattono per mancanza di amore e compassione. Read the rest of this entry »
His Holiness the Dalai Lama Meet Participants in a SEE Learning Discussion

August 10, 2023. Shewatsel, Leh, Ladakh, India – His Holiness the Dalai Lama met 30 core members of the SEE Learning team in Ladakh this morning. They told him that since the launch of the program in Ladakh just over a year ago, they have trained 500 teachers to implement social, emotional and ethical training in local schools. Yesterday, 150 teachers from Leh and Kargil met to discuss their experience of working with the program. Their spokesman thanked His Holiness for having had the vision to encourage the development of SEE Learning.
“I’m glad to meet you,” His Holiness told them. “When we Tibetans came into exile in India, we witnessed democracy at work and we discovered that there are people for whom religion has little attraction. Of course, religious practice can be very helpful, but it is also the case that people use religion as an excuse for stoking conflict with others.
“In my own life I have received teachings belonging to the Sakya, Kagyu and Nyingma traditions, as well as the Geluk tradition, and I practise them all. Sua Santità il Dalai Lama alla Lamdon Model School
Sua Santità il Dalai Lama: “Parliamo di etica laica perché questi valori di amore e compassione possono essere insegnati e praticati senza dover adottare alcuna posizione religiosa.
7 agosto 2023. Shewatsel, Leh, Ladakh, India – Questa mattina Sua Santità il Dalai Lama è stato invitato alla Lamdon Model Senior Secondary School per inaugurare le celebrazioni del suo Giubileo d’Oro e per ospitare il Grande Dibattito Estivo.
L ungo il percorso dalla sua residenza alla parte alta di Leh, dove si trova la scuola, l’anno accolto i sorrisi di moltissimi t ibetani, ladakhi e turisti stranieri che offrivano a Sua Santità sciarpe di seta e fiori.
Sua Santità è stato ricevuto da un comitato di benvenuto e scortato sul palco, coperto da un tendone, eretto sopra il cortile della scuola. Per prima cosa ha reso omaggio a d una statua del Buddha e d ha acceso una lampada votiva per aprire l’evento sotto i migliori auspici. Successivamente, ha s copert o una targa d ‘inaugurazione del 14° Dalai Lama Open Stadium, ha presentato diversi libri e d il programma del Giubileo d’Oro. Salutando diversi vecchi amici lungo la strada, Sua Santità si è avvicinato al palco per salutare la folla di 15.000 persone.

His Holiness the Dalai Lama: Lamdon Model School Golden Jubilee Celebration

August 7, 2023. Shewatsel, Leh, Ladakh, India – This morning His Holiness the Dalai Lama was invited to the Lamdon Model Senior Secondary School to inaugurate celebrations of its Golden Jubilee and its hosting of the Great Summer Debate. Since the school is located in the upper part of Leh, His Holiness had to drive right up through the city. Tibetans, Ladakhis and some foreign tourists lined the route, silk scarves and flowers in their hands and smiles of joy on their faces.
His Holiness was received by a welcoming committee and escorted to the stage, covered by an awning, erected above the school ground. He first paid his respects before a statue of the Buddha and lit a lamp to auspiciously open the occasion. Next, he unveiled a plaque to indicate the inauguration of the 14th Dalai Lama Open Stadium and launched several books and the Golden Jubilee program. Greeting several old friends on the way, His Holiness walked to the front of the stage to wave to the 15,000 strong crowd.
The customary tea and sweet rice were served as students gave a presentation of their debating skills on the school ground. This was followed by a performance of the school song that tells how the name of the school derives from Atisha’s seminal work, ‘Lamp for the Path to Enlightenment’.
In a personal tribute, Head Girl Tsering Angmo recalled that when she joined the school, she was nervous and shy. At that point, she said, she would have been unable to address such a gathering as this in public—” But now I stand before you full of confidence, which I have acquired at this school.” She observed that the light of the lamp mentioned in the school’s name comes from its wonderful teachers. 31 luglio 2023. Shewatsel, Leh, Ladakh, India – Questa mattina, Sua Santità il Dalai Lama si è recato in macchina dalla sua residenza a Shewatsel Phodrang al Tempio di Kalachakra all’estremità del campo di insegnamento. All’interno, un gruppo di monaci di diversi monasteri locali, tra cui Samten Ling, Spituk, Rizong, Likir e Zanskar, che hanno formato un gruppo di pratica del Kalachakra, stavano conducendo un rituale Kalachakra. Un vecchio dipinto thangka del Kalachakra era affisso al muro davanti a loro ed un mandala dipinto era stato disposto nel padiglione del mandala. Sua Santità ha salutato questi e la statua del Buddha prima di prendere posto con i monaci ed unirsi alla loro recitazione.
Successivamente, si è mosso per parlare a 70 delegati, che hanno partecipato all’incontro annuale della Rappresentanza generale di U-tsang appena concluso qui a Leh, e che avevano preso posto sulla veranda del tempio. Sua Santità ha consultato il loro rapporto scritto mentre venivano cantate le preghiere.

Visit to the Great Buddha Statue at Stok

July 31, 2023. Shewatsel, Leh, Ladakh, India – This morning, His Holiness the Dalai Lama drove from his residence at Shewatsel Phodrang to the Kalachakra Temple at the far end of the teaching ground. Inside, a group of monks from several local monasteries, including Samten Ling, Spituk, Rizong, Likir and Zanskar, who have formed a Kalachakra practice group, were conducting a Kalachakra ritual. An old thangka painting of Kalachakra hung on the wall before them and a painted mandala had been laid out in the mandala pavilion. His Holiness saluted these and the statue of the Buddha before taking his seat with the monks and joining in their recitation.
Next, he moved to address 70 delegates, who attended the just concluded U-tsang Annual General Body Meeting here in Leh, and who were sitting on the veranda of the temple. He leafed through their written report as prayers were chanted.
“We Tibetans of the Three Provinces of Tibet have been united since the time of the great religious kings. King Songtsen Gampo married a Chinese princess, and yet when he decided to create a Tibetan form of writing, he chose to model it on the Indian alphabet. He was someone with far-sighted vision and a strong Tibetan spirit.
“At the time of King Trisong Detsen, on Shantarakshita’s advice, a project was begun to translate Indian Buddhist literature into Tibetan. This was the source of the more than 300 volumes of the Kangyur and Tengyur we have today. Read the rest of this entry »
